— Anniversaries, birthdays, bad weeks
Start with the occasion.
Two tables about a forearm apart, one door that closes, and the lights kept low. There is exactly one such room here — $160 for 60 minutes, $240 for 90, priced for the pair of you rather than each.
What changes from booking to booking is never the room. It is the reason. A date circled on a calendar, or a week that went sideways, settles everything after it: which length, what time of day, whether you will be talking on the drive home or quiet in the car.
These are the four that come through our door most often.
An anniversary
The most-booked reason, and the one people plan furthest ahead. If yours lands on a Friday or Saturday, reserve early in the week — weekend evenings go first. Ninety minutes ($240) suits an anniversary better than sixty, honestly. Sixty is a lovely massage. Ninety is an evening.
A birthday
Usually booked by somebody else, which brings its own logistics. Put it on a gift card and let them choose the date, or pick the slot yourself and tell them where to be at seven. Both work. If it is meant to be a surprise, say so when you call — otherwise someone at the desk will cheerfully confirm the whole thing to the wrong person.
A babymoon
Late-pregnancy couples bookings are common here and they are welcome. Tell us how far along you are when you book — the room gets set up differently, side-lying with bolsters rather than face-down. How a prenatal session actually runs covers the rest of it. If the pregnancy is high-risk or there is any complication, talk to your OB or midwife first and tell us what they said; whatever they advise, we work inside it.
A week that went badly
No occasion whatsoever is a perfectly good occasion. Two people, a bad stretch of February, and an hour where neither of you can be reached. This is the booking made at four in the afternoon for seven the same evening.
— Two people, one parking lot
Arriving together.
A couples booking has one wrinkle a solo massage does not: two people have to end up in the same building at the same minute, often coming from two different directions and two different moods.
We are in Chaska Commons, where Hwy 41 meets Pioneer Trail, and the lot is free surface parking directly in front of the door — so neither of you is circling a block or feeding a meter while the other is already inside. If one of you does arrive first, Caribou Coffee is 59 feet away, close enough that we have watched people carry a cup over without a lid.
One of you books. It is a single reservation covering two people, not two appointments that happen to sit next to each other, so whoever owns the calendar should make the call or place the booking for both of you. If you are converging from two different towns, the measured door-to-door drive from each of them is published on our Carver County page — useful mainly for settling which of you has to leave first.
- Arrive about 10 minutes early on a first visit — there is a short intake form each, and two forms take longer than one.
- Phones face-down, or off. Half the value of a closed door is that neither of you can be reached through it.
— Sixty minutes, in order
How the hour actually runs.
Two pictures compete in most people's heads before they book this: a wedding-magazine fantasy, and something faintly awkward. It is neither of them. Here is the whole thing, in order.
- You check in together at the front desk and fill out the intake form. Five minutes, at most.
- Both therapists walk you into the couples room: two tables set up side by side, low light, one door.
- They step out. You each undress to whatever you are comfortable with and get under the sheet on your own table.
- They come back in together and begin at the same time — from there it runs like two ordinary massages happening two feet apart.
- You are both draped the entire session. Only the area being worked on is ever uncovered.
- At the end they step out again, you both get dressed unhurried, and you walk out together. Water at the desk.
— Two therapists, two settings
Two people, two dials.
This is the worry that stops people booking, and it has a boring answer: you are not sharing a setting with your partner.
There are two therapists in that room. One of you can ask for slow, specific deep-tissue work into the shoulders while the other gets broad, light, flowing strokes and is asleep in eleven minutes. Neither choice touches the other, and both come off the same menu at the same price.
Say what you want at the start, and say it again mid-session if it changes — out loud, mid-stroke, in front of your partner. It is information, not criticism. A relaxation massage should never hurt, and deep work should never be worse than a manageable ache. You set the dial; we hold it there.
Length is the one thing you do share. $160 buys 60 minutes for both of you — a full-body session each, and what most people book. $240 buys 90, which is the one to pick when the evening is the point rather than the errand.
- Different pressure, different focus: two therapists, two sets of instructions.
- Hot stone on one table and not the other: yes — it is a $10 add-on, per person.
— Sisters, coworkers, wedding parties
Who else books the couples room.
Plenty of the couples bookings we take are not couples at all, and it catches people off guard every time they find out. The name is about the room, not the relationship. Two tables, one door — that is the entire specification.
Two friends who have been meaning to catch up for six months and finally put money on it. Sisters. A mother and her adult daughter the morning before a wedding. A father and a grown son after a weekend of yard work neither of them was young enough for. Two coworkers on a long lunch. A pair of golfers who have just walked eighteen holes at Hazeltine.
Booking something called a couples massage with your sister sounds odder than it is. The desk takes these several times a week and writes two names down like any other appointment — same two tables, same two therapists, same closed door. It is also why the Saturday before a wedding wants reserving early.
— One room, two tables
There is one couples room. That is the whole constraint.
Everything else on our menu you can genuinely turn up for. We take walk-ins all day, every day, whenever a therapist is free, and a good number of people come here for exactly that. The couples room is the one place where turning up may not work, and the reason is arithmetic rather than attitude.
One room. Two tables inside it. Two therapists free at the same moment. On a Tuesday at two in the afternoon those three line up most of the time and you would very likely be fine. On a Friday at 6:30, or the Saturday before Valentine's Day, they do not line up at all — and there is no second room to open.
So reserve it. Online booking shows live availability, so you can see what is genuinely free tonight before you promise anybody anything, and (612) 600-9298 takes calls and texts both. Buying it for somebody else? A gift card solves the part that is actually hard, which is never the massage — it is the date.
We are at 150 Pioneer Trail, Chaska, MN 55318, in Chaska Commons at the Hwy 41 and Pioneer Trail corner, open Monday to Saturday from 9 AM and Sunday from 9:30 AM, until 9 PM every night. Because a session has to finish by close, the last 90-minute couples booking of the day starts at 7:30. Take a slot while you are thinking about it — or check what a solo session costs, if only one of you was ever really going to do this.

Questions we get
most often.
Still unsure? Call (612) 600-9298 — someone at the front desk will actually pick up.
How does a couples massage work?
Two tables in one room, two therapists working at the same time, so you and your partner are side by side for the whole session. It's $160 for 60 minutes or $240 for 90. The couples room is a single room — please book ahead rather than walking in for this one.
Does a couples massage have to be with a partner?
Not at all. Friends, siblings, a parent and an adult child, or two coworkers on a lunch break all book it. It's simply two people in the same room at the same time.
Do I have to undress?
Only as far as you're comfortable. For oil massage most people undress to their underwear; you're under a sheet the whole time and the therapist only uncovers the area being worked on. For futon (Thai) massage and reflexology you stay fully clothed.
How early should I arrive?
Five to ten minutes is plenty for a first visit — enough to fill out a short intake form and tell your therapist what's going on. If you've been in before, arriving right on time is fine.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes. Order one online through our Square gift-card page, or stop in or call (612) 600-9298 and we'll sort one out — you can put it toward any service on the menu.
Is gratuity included?
Gratuity is not included in the listed prices. It's appreciated but entirely up to you, and it's never expected.
Can we book two different lengths, or two different services?
The couples booking is one session for two people, so it is 60 minutes for both of you or 90 for both. What happens inside it can be completely different — one of you deep tissue, the other light Swedish, different areas, hot stone on one table only. If you truly want two different services, book two separate appointments for the same start time and we will line them up as closely as the room and the schedule allow.
How far ahead should we book the couples room?
For a weekday afternoon, same day is usually fine. For a Friday or Saturday evening — or anywhere near Valentine's Day, Mother's Day or a long weekend — book as far ahead as you can. There is one couples room and it is the first thing on the schedule to fill.
— Background reading
Massage is one of the oldest forms of self-care, and what we do is squarely on the relaxation side of it. We make no medical claims — for neutral, non-promotional background, read the NCCIH on massage therapy , what the science actually says , relaxation techniques and the AMTA on massage and wellness .
Those are general educational references about the practice, not statements about any particular session here.
Day Massage is a relaxation and wellness studio, not a medical provider. Nothing here is medical advice — if something hurts in a way that worries you, see a clinician.
