— Before your visit
Studio policies,
in plain English.
This is how the studio actually runs — written down so you read it before you walk in rather than find it out at the desk. Most of it is common sense. One section, conduct, is not negotiable, and it's stated plainly for that reason.

— Getting in the door
Book it, or just
walk in.
Walk-ins are welcome any hour we're open, and plenty of sessions start that way. What a walk-in can't guarantee is a particular therapist, a particular length, or the couples room — book those. Evenings and Saturdays go first. Online, phone and text all reach the same schedule.
Every price is published on the full menu — nothing to negotiate at the desk, nothing added once you're on the table.
Arriving, and running late
First visit: come five to ten minutes early. There's a short intake form, and your therapist would rather hear what's going on than guess. Been in before? Right on time is fine.
Running late, call or text as soon as you know. Usually your session still ends when it was booked to end — a 60-minute appointment starting fifteen minutes late is forty-five minutes on the table. That isn't a penalty. It's the only way the guest booked after you starts on time.
Call or text as soon as you know you can't make it. An hour of notice is usually enough to give the slot to someone else — somebody always wants a 6 PM on a Friday.
Notice matters more for couples, four hands and the 90- and 120-minute bookings, because those hold two therapists or a long block of one therapist's day. No-shows get handled by a person here, not by a policy. If it happens once, book again.
Gratuity
Gratuity is not included in any listed price. It's appreciated and entirely up to you — never expected, and nobody at the desk will prompt you. Cash or card.
— In the room
What "undress to your
comfort" actually means.
Every spa says that line and almost none of them explain it. So: for an oil massage, most people undress to their underwear. Some keep more on. Both are normal.
You undress alone and get under the sheet; your therapist knocks and waits before coming back in. You stay covered the whole session — only the area being worked is uncovered, and it's covered again before your therapist moves on. Breasts and groin are never uncovered, for anyone.
For futon (Thai) massage and reflexology you stay fully clothed start to finish. If the undressing question is what's kept you from booking at all, start with reflexology — recliner, shoes off, everything else on.
What to tell us about your health
Injuries old and new, recent surgery, skin conditions, allergies (we work with oil), blood pressure, anything that thins your blood, and pregnancy — including how far along, so the room can be set up side-lying before you arrive. All of it changes how a therapist works.
Some things should go past a clinician first: a fever or anything contagious, an open wound or skin infection in the area, recent surgery, a clotting disorder, severe osteoporosis, certain heart conditions, or a high-risk pregnancy. Day Massage is a relaxation and wellness studio, not a medical provider — we'd sooner move your appointment than guess.
— Non-negotiable
This is a professional
therapeutic practice.
Every session at Day Massage is non-sexual — without exception and without qualification.
Any sexual comment, request, advance or deliberate exposure ends the session immediately. You'll be asked to leave and you won't be welcome back — no warning step, no second chance. Where a report is warranted, we report it.
Our therapists have standing authority to end a session on their own judgement — for that, for aggression, for intoxication — and nobody here will second-guess the call. It's the position the ABMP's Respect Massage campaign asks this profession to take, and we take it: for the therapist, and for everyone who never needed telling.
— The rest of it
Children, belongings,
and the right to say no.
- Children and guests
- The studio is quiet on purpose and we can't supervise children, so please arrange care rather than bringing them along. A friend or partner can wait in the lounge. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian to book, consent and stay in the building.
- Belongings and phones
- Your things stay with you in the room — there are no lockers, so leave anything valuable at home. Silence your phone before the session starts; the rooms share walls, and ours are silenced too.
- Refusal of service
- We may decline or end a session — for conduct, intoxication, a health situation we aren't equipped for, or any circumstance in which a therapist doesn't feel safe. In the room, that call belongs to the therapist.

— Sources & background reading
Massage is one of the oldest forms of self-care, and what we do is squarely on the relaxation side of it. We make no medical claims — for neutral, non-promotional background, read the NCCIH on massage therapy , what the science actually says , relaxation techniques and the AMTA on massage and wellness .
Those are general educational references about the practice, not statements about any particular session here.
Day Massage is a relaxation and wellness studio, not a medical provider. Nothing here is medical advice — if something hurts in a way that worries you, see a clinician.
