Straight west on Pioneer Trail, no freeway involved at all. Chanhassen asks the same three questions often enough — price, membership, evening availability — that it has a page of its own: how our published rates compare with the membership studios in the corridor.

Hwy 5 east, then right onto Hwy 41 heading south. You pass the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum on the way in, which is near enough to us that an Arboretum morning and a late-afternoon appointment make a sensible Saturday out of a single drive.

Victoria also sits at the far end of the same school district as Chaska and Chanhassen, so a good share of Victoria bookings are people whose day ends at four and who want the evening to stay local. Ten minutes down Hwy 41 is the entire journey.

North on Jonathan Carver Parkway to US-212, east along the freeway to the Hwy 41 exit, then a short run south to the Pioneer Trail light. Carver is the closest town on this list by distance, and the freeway is why eleven minutes is a fair estimate rather than an optimistic one — the old alignment put every trip through the same surface intersections as everybody else's.

Excelsior is in Hennepin County, so strictly it has no business on a Carver County page. It is here because Hwy 41 begins at Hwy 7 just outside town and runs south to our corner without asking anything of you — one road, no turns worth mentioning, about ten minutes. Several towns actually inside the county take longer than that.

West on US-212 and off at the Hwy 41 exit. Eden Prairie sits at the far end of that twelve-mile freeway, which is why a city in a different county is a shorter trip than Waconia — and why the fourteen minutes is the number most affected by when you leave. It is also where the corridor's second membership studio sits, so a fair share of Eden Prairie bookings arrive having already done the sums on what an hour costs without one.

Hwy 5 east through Victoria, then south on Hwy 41. This is the longest regular drive inside the county, and the one where booking ahead earns its keep — twenty minutes in the car and both tables busy at the end of it is a poor trade.

It is also the drive weather changes most. From mid-November onward treat the twenty-minute figure as a fair-weather number, and call before you set out on a bad night; moving your visit to another evening costs nothing. Cologne is the one town here we have never clocked door to door, and instead of inventing a figure, here is the road: US-212 east, the same run that carries the western end of the county through Carver and into Chaska.

In practice the west county comes in the evening rather than on a lunch break, which is exactly what a 9:00 PM close is for. Book something at 6:30 or 7:00 and the whole thing is done at a reasonable hour.

US-169 north to Shakopee, then Hwy 41 north across the river. Jordan is in Scott County with the Minnesota River in between, which sounds worse than it is: the four-lane Chaska Bridge has been open since July 2007 and the crossing costs about as much time as one traffic light. Hwy 13 west, then north on Hwy 41 over the same bridge. This is the longest drive on the table and the only one that reliably runs past twenty minutes each way, so it wants a booking rather than a hopeful arrival — and it is worth putting the extra length on the session, since the driving is a fixed cost either way.
